Well-ness Words:  Mind, Body & Soul

14 “Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;
    I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call on me, and I will answer him;
    I will be with him in trouble,
    I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him
    and show him my salvation.” Psalm 91:14-16

Have you ever had a busy day in which even your prayers seem rushed?  I have felt this way at times, and when least expected, it’s when God steps in to remind me of God’s love, rescue, and protection in times of need.  Somehow, I can breathe again because the weight of my concern and worry disappears.  What fascinates me is that help comes even when I do not stop to ask God for help or a miracle!  God indeed watches over us, knows everything before we ask, and loves us more than we will ever know.  Then, our rushed prayers turn into praise: “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”  (Psalm 91:2)

Spiritual exercise:  Reflect on those moments when your security, courage, joy, health, and rest are threatened by life’s circumstances.  Then, substitute the pronouns in Psalm 91:14-16 copied above, with your name and pronouns as a reminder of God’s love, rescue, and protection for you, even when you don’t ask.  God knows your needs and requests because God loves you and cares for you more than you’ll ever know!
